Elephant

Elephants are huge land mammals (milk giving class) in two still existing generation of the family Elephantidae, Loxadonta and Elephas, with the third kind including Subordinate kinds, genus Mammuthus found rarely . The African bush Elephant, The African forest Elephant and The Indian or Asian Elephants are the three living and recognized species of Elephants.

While some research group the two African species into one and some of them also claim the existence of a fourth species in the West Africa.

All other genera and species of Elephants are hardly found.

Most have been vanished since the last ice age, while dwarf types of large extinct Elephant might have survived as late as 2,000 BC. Elephants and Elephantidae were once ranked with other hard and thick-skinned animals in a now unlegal order,  Pachydermata. Elephants are considered now one of the biggest and largest animals on Earth.

The period of carrying on in the womb between conception and birth of Elephant is 22 months, the longest from all land animals.

An elephant calf usually weight 105 kilograms at the time of birth.

The Elephants typically live 50 to 70 years, but in some records, oldest Elephant lived for 82 years.

Ever recorded biggest male Elephant weight about 10,900kg with height of 3.96 meters was shot in Angola in 1955. While the smallest Elephant about the size of a normal calf or a large Pig, was a species of a time before historical extant the lived on the Island of Crete.

Elephants are an emblem of wisdom in Asian Culture and are famous for their memory and intellectance.  The Intelligence level of Elephants is thought to be comparable to Dolphins and higher creature.

Aristotle said the Elephant was “The beats which proceed all others in understanding and mind”.

The word Elephant is originated from Greek word meaning “Ivory” or Elephant.
